
Melissa Crystal O'Neil was born July 12, 1988[1].] She is a Canadian singer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season in 2005. She is known best as an actress because of her roles in the series Syfy as Two as Two Rebecca/ Portia Lin and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was placed in the bottom three and two of the finals. The judges were stunned by this , and they urged viewers to decide to vote Melissa for her voice talents. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom three. Zack Werner, the judge, declared O'Neil "a potential winner the entire competition". The 7th of September, 2005, O'Neil made it to the final two contestants of the competition, alongside Rex Goudie, and after another stunning performance and performances, judge Werner famously declared that the headlines in the next day's news would be "The King, Kalan Porter is dead, long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand finale results shows on September 14, 2005 to be named Canada's third Idol.
